Bakwood BBQ and More – Authentic Texas BBQ with Fresh Smoked Meats in San Antonio

Just wow! I stopped by because from the outside it looked like a few friends hanging out, BBQing in the yard — simple, real, and family-style. That alone made me want to check it out. Glad I did! As soon as I walked in, everyone was welcoming, smeleld awesome and the music instantly took me back — my kind of vibe. I ordered the 2-meat plate with brisket, sausage, and all the fixings, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, tender, and packed with just the right amount of smoky flavor and a dash of some sauce. I wasn’t even hungry, but after one bite I couldn’t stop. I had a great conversation with the owner and Q about the place, its history, and even got a peek inside the smoker — 18 hours of hard work goes into those meats, and you can taste it. They’ve only been open about eight months and are still getting the place together, but it’s already a gem. Not much seating inside, but plenty of tables outside to relax and enjoy that backyard BBQ feel. Located just a few minutes east of downtown off Commerce — definitely worth the visit. Stop on by, grab a plate, and enjoy the good food, good people, and good music.

The food was phenomenal! Me and my mom spent Abt 31 dollars (not including tip) I got brisket and sausage Mac and cheese, and my mom got the brisket nachos, we both loved our food and the service was amazing, they were all so nice, and it was fast too, I was just visiting Texas and we decided to go here and it was one of the best meals that I've ever had! I would 100% recommend this for people who love brisket, it's tender juicy and honestly just phenomenal in general!!

Food is insanely good and the staff is the friendliest I’ve encountered in my 2 years of being in San Antonio! Definitely going back!!

The food is amazing. The service is outstanding specially the cashier Nik. She is so polite and she make sure that your order is correct and delivered on time directly to you. The atmosphere is very relaxing great for a family and any size group that you desire indoor an outdoor patio seating I had the Lulu sausage plate. It came with two sausage links, beans, potato salad, and the fixings of course

So yummy and the owner/staff are so nice!! Highly recommend, but not maybe for a big group because it has limited seating. It's so good!

You can smell the smoker from a block away. Beef ribs and brisket were phenomenal. Rice and beans too. Save room for the brownie. Wow. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Super friendly staff and very reasonable prices.

Good food, I will be coming back for some ribs again. That barbeque sauce was delicious.

Nice people who actually stopped and shook my hand and introduced themselves and had a nice conversation with me. Blues music playing at just the right volume. And a hamburger and french fries that were so good that I think that kid was just showing off. I didn't even get a chance to try the actual barbecue which I will be back for but that was the best hamburger I have had in years. The owner was telling me that he may have to raise his prices and I think that he should. Food that good should not be cheap and every small business owner has to earn a living for themselves. So if you guys do raise the prices I'll gladly pay it. Keep up the Great work!!
